Question 1

How do I create a stack?

Accepted Answer

Tap the "+" button on the Home tab or go to your Wanderlist on the Explore tab and tap "Start Stacking" on any saved destination. Enter your destination, savings goal, and target date. Choose a tracking mode: Manual (log savings yourself) or Linked (sync with your bank via Plaid).

Question 2

How do I link my bank account?

Accepted Answer

Go to Profile > Linked Bank Accounts, or open any stack and tap "Link Bank Account" in the savings section. We use Plaid to securely connect to your bank. We never store your login credentials, and you can disconnect at any time.

Question 3

How do contributions work?

Accepted Answer

Share your stack's funding page with friends and family using the Share button. They can contribute any amount via credit or debit card through Stripe. To receive contributions, set up your payout account in Profile > Contribution Setup. You can view all contributions in the Activity tab on your stack.

Question 4

What are Stax Rewards?

Accepted Answer

Stax Rewards is your global rewards wallet. Earn credits through cashback on bookings made via Stax partners and referring friends ($5 each). Use the filter tabs to view rewards by type, and check your total balance at the top. Apply rewards at checkout to reduce your booking costs.

Question 5

How does the Cost Estimator work?

Accepted Answer

The Estimator uses AI to generate trip cost breakdowns. Set your departure city and customize category tiers (budget, mid-range, boutique, luxury) individually. Items marked "covered" or "free" are excluded from your total. Tap "Re-estimate" anytime to refresh prices. Your home city is auto-saved after your first estimate.

Question 6

Can I plan a multi-city or multi-country trip?

Accepted Answer

For now, we recommend creating a separate stack for each city or leg of your trip. Use the AI estimator for each destination individually to get accurate cost breakdowns. Multi-city trip planning with combined estimates is coming in a future update.

Question 7

How do I control who sees my stack?

Accepted Answer

In Stack Settings, visibility and sharing options are at the top. Set a stack to Public, Friends Only, or Private. You can also set a default visibility for all new stacks in Profile > Edit Profile.

Question 8

What happens when I delete a stack?

Accepted Answer

Deleted stacks move to Recently Deleted, where they are recoverable for 30 days. After 30 days, they are permanently removed. You can find Recently Deleted in your profile or home screen.

Question 9

How do I share my stack?

Accepted Answer

Open your stack and tap the Share icon. You can copy your funding page link to share anywhere, or invite specific people by email directly from the app. Anyone with the link can view your funding page and contribute to your trip.

Question 10

What's a Stax profile and how do I share it?

Accepted Answer

Every Stax user has a public profile at stax.cash/@yourusername. It's a single shareable link that shows your active Stacks, badges (like Founding Member), the countries you've visited (your Country Stack), and your supporter totals. Tap Share my profile on the Profile tab to send the link via Messages, Instagram bio, LinkTree, or anywhere else. The page works on both mobile and web.

Question 11

What's the Stax Passport?

Accepted Answer

Your Stax Passport is the part of your profile that captures your travel identity at a glance: countries you've visited, places on your wanderlist, trips you're saving for, and (Premium only) a world map showing all of it. Tap any number to drill into the detail.

Question 12

What is Stacking For?

Accepted Answer

Stacking For shows the number of trips you're actively saving for in Stax. It's the new name for Saving For. Same idea, more on-brand. Tap the number on your Stax Passport to scroll down to your trip list.

Question 13

What is Inspired?

Accepted Answer

Inspired counts how many real Stax actions other people took after seeing your profile: adding destinations to their wanderlist, or starting their own stacks. It only shows up once at least one person's been inspired. Hidden by default until then.

Question 14

How do milestone share cards work?

Accepted Answer

When you hit a meaningful number, like your 10th country, your first funded stack, or your first $10K saved, Stax generates a share card you can post to Instagram, TikTok, X, or LinkedIn. You decide whether to share or skip. Stax never auto-posts on your behalf.

Question 15

Can I turn off attribution?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you add a destination to your wanderlist or start a stack from someone else's profile, you'll see a 'credit @username' toggle. Uncheck it before you confirm, and your action stays unattributed. The source user's Inspired count won't change.

Question 16

What is the Country Stack?

Accepted Answer

Your Country Stack is the map of where you've been. Add countries one at a time by tapping them in the picker, paste a list of countries you've visited, or upload a CSV file. When you confirm a trip happened (after a Stack reaches its travel date), the destination country is added automatically. The Country Stack appears on your public profile as a stat strip showing "47 countries · 5 continents". That's your social brag.

Question 17

How do I confirm a trip happened?

Accepted Answer

After a Stack's target travel date passes, you'll see a Did your trip happen? prompt on the Home tab the next time you open the app. Tap Yes I went to mark the Stack completed and add the country to your Country Stack. Multi-country trip? You can add additional countries on the same screen. If the trip didn't happen, tap Postponed (set a new date) or Cancelled (move the Stack to Archived).

Question 18

How do I make my profile private?

Accepted Answer

Go to Profile > Edit > Privacy. Three controls: Make profile private (only people you explicitly share with see anything), Hide my city (your home city won't appear), and Hide my contributions (the Stack Backers totals won't appear). Profiles are public by default, but reachable only via direct URL share — there's no search, browse, or directory at launch.

Question 19

Can I change my @username?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Go to Profile > Edit and update your username. Usernames are 3-30 characters, lowercase letters/numbers/underscores. You can change it once every 30 days, and released usernames are reserved for 30 days before someone else can claim them. Usernames that match common reserved names or trademarks (like @apple or @hilton) are blocked to prevent impersonation.

Question 20

How do I report another user's profile?

Accepted Answer

On any stax.cash/@username page (web or in-app), tap the Report this profile button. Choose a reason (Impersonation, Inappropriate content, or Other) and add details. We aim to review reports within 24 hours and will remove or restrict content that violates our content policy when we determine such action is appropriate. Reports can be filed anonymously.

Question 21

Is my information secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Bank connections use Plaid with bank-level encryption, and payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant processor. We never store your bank login credentials or full card numbers. You can also enable multi-factor authentication for extra protection.

Question 22

What is a Wanderlist?

Accepted Answer

Your Wanderlist lives on the Explore tab and is a place to save dream destinations you want to visit someday. Browse inspiration or search for any place to add it. When you're ready to start saving, tap "Start Stacking" to convert it into a stack.

Question 23

What is Dedicated vs Shared account mode?

Accepted Answer

When you link a bank account, choose Dedicated if the entire account balance goes toward one stack (e.g., a savings account just for your Hawaii trip). Choose Shared if you use one account for multiple stacks and want to tag individual transactions to different trips.

Question 24

How do auto-tag rules work?

Accepted Answer

Auto-tag rules automatically categorize your bank transactions to the right stack. For example, you can create a rule that tags any deposit of a specific amount or containing certain keywords to your Hawaii stack. Set up rules from your stack settings or Profile > Linked Bank Accounts.

Question 25

What if I save for multiple trips in one account?

Accepted Answer

Use Shared mode and set up auto-tag rules to allocate transactions to the right stack. For best results, set up separate recurring transfers for each trip so each transaction is easy to identify and tag.

Question 26

What is Premium?

Accepted Answer

Stax Premium ($4.99/mo) unlocks multi-scenario cost estimates, 2% booking rewards (vs 1% on Economy), and priority support. New users get a free 14-day Premium trial automatically. You can subscribe from Profile > Subscription.

Question 27

What is a Founding Member?

Accepted Answer

Founding Members are the first 500 premium subscribers, who lock in a $2.99/mo rate for life. The Founding Member badge is permanent and stays on your profile even if you later cancel. If you cancel, you have 90 days to resubscribe at your locked rate.

Question 28

How do I cancel or change my trip?

Accepted Answer

You can edit your stack details anytime by tapping the Settings icon on the stack page. To delete a stack, scroll to the bottom of stack settings and tap "Delete Stack." Deleted stacks are recoverable from Recently Deleted for 30 days.
