Terms of Service
Last updated: April 26, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Stax (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, please do not use our services. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Description of Service
Stax is a travel savings platform that helps you:
- Create savings goals (“Stacks”) for trips and travel experiences
- Track your savings progress by linking bank accounts
- Receive contributions from family and friends via shareable funding pages
- Get AI-powered trip cost estimates to help you plan your budget
- Earn cashback rewards when booking travel through our affiliate partners
Important: Stax is not a bank, financial institution, or money transmitter. We do not hold, custody, or manage your funds. We provide tools to help you track and visualize savings in your own bank accounts and facilitate contributions processed by our payment partners.
User Accounts
To use certain features of Stax, you must create an account. When creating and using your account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Keep your password confidential and not share it with others
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent or harmful activity.
User Content and Acceptable Use
Stax lets you publish a public profile at stax.cash/@username that may include your chosen username, avatar, bio (max 80 characters), home city, and visited countries. You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content you grant us a non-exclusive license to display it as part of the Service.
You agree not to submit content that:
- Impersonates another person, brand, business, or organization (including travel companies, airlines, hotels, and other travel-industry trademarks)
- Is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or invades the privacy of another person
- Infringes intellectual property, publicity, or other rights of any party
- Contains promotional links, spam, malware, or attempts to phish, deceive, or solicit money outside of Stax's contribution flow
- Includes sexually explicit material, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or content that depicts real-world violence
We restrict the use of certain reserved usernames (including admin paths, common reserved words, and a curated list of brand handles) to prevent impersonation and confusion.
Use the Report this profile button (on any public profile page or via Settings → Report a user) to flag content that violates these Terms. We aim to review reports within 24 hours and may take appropriate action — including removing content, renaming usernames, suspending accounts, or referring illegal content (e.g. CSAM) to the relevant authorities — when we determine such action is warranted.
We reserve the right to remove content, reclaim usernames, and suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, with or without notice, when we believe these Terms have been violated.
Inspired attribution
By adding a destination to your wanderlist or starting a Stack, you consent to optional attribution to a source profile when you initiate the action from another user's Stax Passport. You may opt out at the moment of action via the "Credit @username" checkbox. Attribution does not transfer ownership of the entry. The entry remains yours to edit or delete.
Source users do not have rights to your wanderlist or Stack data beyond seeing aggregate Inspired counts and per- destination totals on their own public profile. We do not display the identities of users who added destinations inspired by your profile. The Inspired count is aggregate.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including all content, features, functionality, software, text, images, graphics, logos, and trademarks, is owned by STAX App LLC and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any materials from the Service without our prior written consent, except as necessary for your personal, non-commercial use of the Service. The Stax name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of STAX App LLC. You may not use such marks without our prior written permission.
Payments
Contributions: Contributions made to Stacks are processed via Stripe and transferred to the Stack owner's connected payout account. By contributing to a Stack, you acknowledge that:
- Contributions are voluntary gifts and are generally non-refundable once transferred
- Processing fees may apply and will be disclosed before payment
- We do not guarantee that funds will be used for any specific purpose
Payouts: Stack owners who wish to receive contributions must complete identity verification and connect a payout method through Stripe Connect. Payout timing and methods are subject to Stripe's terms and may vary by location.
Rewards: Cashback rewards earned through affiliate bookings are credited to your Stax Rewards Wallet and can be applied toward future bookings or travel-related purchases through the Service. Rewards have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold, or redeemed for cash. Unclaimed rewards expire twelve (12) months after the date earned. Stax reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Rewards Program, or any part of it, at any time and for any reason, with reasonable notice to users. In the event of account deletion, any unredeemed rewards will be forfeited. Stax is not responsible for rewards lost due to account inactivity, deletion, or technical issues beyond our reasonable control.
Third-Party Services
Stax integrates with third-party services to provide our features. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:
- Plaid: Used to securely connect to your bank accounts. Subject to Plaid's Terms of Service
- Stripe: Used to process payments and payouts. Subject to Stripe's Services Agreement
- Affiliate Partners: Travel bookings made through partners like Booking.com and Viator are subject to their respective terms and policies
We are not responsible for the actions, content, or policies of any third-party services.

- WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
- WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE
- WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY OF COST ESTIMATES OR FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS
- WARRANTIES REGARDING THE SECURITY OF DATA TRANSMITTED THROUGH THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
AI-generated trip cost estimates are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as financial advice. Actual travel costs may vary significantly from estimates.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Stax AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Broward County, Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
Referral Rewards and Taxes
Rewards earned through Stax’s referral program (including the $5 referrer credit and $5 referee credit issued upon a referee’s qualifying annual subscription purchase) and any other rewards issued to your account may be considered taxable income under U.S. federal, state, and local law and may be similarly taxable under the laws of other jurisdictions.
To comply with U.S. tax reporting requirements, Stax may request that you complete and submit IRS Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) before withdrawing rewards or upon reaching IRS reporting thresholds. Failure to provide a valid Form W-9 when requested may result in the suspension of reward withdrawals from your account.
Where applicable, Stax may issue Form 1099-MISC or other tax forms reporting the value of rewards paid to you in a calendar year, in accordance with IRS thresholds and regulations in effect at that time.
You are solely responsible for determining the tax consequences of receiving and using rewards, for reporting rewards as income on your tax returns where required, and for paying any applicable federal, state, local, or foreign taxes. Stax does not provide tax advice. You should consult a qualified tax professional regarding your specific situation. See our Referral Rewards and Taxes page for a plain-language overview.
By participating in the referral program or earning rewards through Stax, you agree to provide tax information and documentation as reasonably requested by Stax to comply with applicable tax reporting laws.
Dispute Resolution
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith informal negotiation by contacting us at legal@stax.cash. If a dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days of submission, either party may initiate binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration shall take place in Broward County, Florida. Each party shall bear its own arbitration costs. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as part of any class, consolidated, or representative action. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, you waive any right to a jury trial.
